Not everyone can keep getting greedy and richer, and us, the little people have had enough!  I was searching around for ways to get out of debt the other day and have found some really good sites that offer lots of great and free advice!

Well thanks to the internet I snagged one way lower than the other 2. You know what they say, 3rd times a charm and certainely I’m paying way less this time than I did for the other 2 so I’m not all that bummed out even if I am paying Microsoft through the nose ofr what has to be my favorite product ever!

At least that was true until my bank started offering stated income home equity loans.  This program is designed for people like me who have difficulty providing supporting documentation for income verification.  There are a few conditions, which I easily met, and now they just â??take my wordâ? for how much I make.  It seemed too good to be true to me too, but in reality it is just treating people like me a little more realistically.

The 2007-2008 Duluth Lakers Bantam A season began in October after the long-anticipated tryout. The team is comprised of eight second year players and nine first year players. Coaches Al, Finney and Tyler have returned for their second season. The team got out of the gate early by starting practices the day after tryouts. Sporting new practice jerseys and socks, the Lakers looked really good from the get-go. Now they must prove it on the ice. The first league game was against Hermantown where the Lakers outscored their opponent to win this one. This may have been the first time, in the history of the Lakers, that a Lakers Bantam A team defeated a Hermantown Bantam A team. On to Cloquet where the Lakers shut down the Cloquet team and beat them 9-1. The second league game against the always difficult Duluth East team, the Lakers cam out flying in the first period, but East came on and won the game 5-0. Next up was the quick Superior team. The Lakers appeared to have the game in control, but penalties continued to let Superior come back several times. But in the end, the Lakers prevailed, winning 5-4 against the surging Superior team. The Lakers have already played in two tournaments and will have two more later in December. Their league games in December will match them with Proctor, Eveleth, Centennial, Grand Rapids and a couple games with Hayward. The temperatures have dropped and the team looks forward to some practices on the outdoor ice at Woodland.

Team “Bonding” Events

The team and parents had a great opportunity to meet each other, have a great meal and celebrate the beginning of what will be a truly memorable Lakers season. On Friday, November 2, 2007, the Brady bunch, oops, the Shockley/Dembrowski clan graciously opened their new home to the Bantam A families. It was a great opportunity for the players to have fun and the parents to chat (and have fun, too!) Thanks to Jim and Denise, for pulling this together so quickly. Our next “bonding” activity was a potluck at the Hopkins tournament. The food was great, the hotel was great and all had a great time. So who is next? We need to keep these boys together to continue the team unity they have going on. (some ideas are pizza at the Sports Garden, a sleep over at the Dembrowski’s, hahaha, a nighttime family skating party, a UMD Bulldog game, or going to a high school game as a team.) We need parents to organize these events. So, if you see something you like, jump in! We got the team together to have spaghetti at the Lakers’ 2nd Annual Spaghetti Dinner at Woodland CC during the Spirit of the North Tournament last weekend. In addition, all Lakers parents must volunteer for the January Duluth Lakers Tournament. Cathy Bianchet passed the signup sheet in Cloquet and will be giving everyone a copy of the final schedule.
